Personal Discord Reminders

Send your own race schedule reminders to Discord with a personal webhook — setup, test message, limits, and troubleshooting.

Last updated July 31, 2026

Summarize this page with AI

Race schedule reminders can be posted to Discord using a webhook you create yourself. MyLMU only ever posts to that webhook — it does not read your messages, join your server, or DM you.

This is separate from team Discord alerts. Team webhooks post lap records, session results, and team events for the whole team. A personal webhook posts your race reminders only. See Discord & alerts for the team side.

Creating the webhook

  1. Open the Discord server and text channel you want reminders in.
  2. Channel settings (or Server Settings) → Integrations → Webhooks.
  3. New Webhook, pick the channel, then Copy Webhook URL. It looks like https://discord.com/api/webhooks/123456789/abcdef….
  4. In MyLMU, open Dashboard → Settings → Notifications → Discord webhook, paste the URL, and click Save webhook.
  5. Click Send test message. A sample reminder should appear in the channel.

Only URLs on discord.com are accepted.

A private channel for yourself

Everyone who can read the channel sees your reminders. If you would rather keep them to yourself, create a private channel in your own server (or a personal server with no other members) and put the webhook there.

Treat the URL like a password: anyone who has it can post to that channel. It is stored hidden and never shown back to you in full — Settings displays a masked version so you can confirm which webhook is saved.

Turning Discord reminders on

The Discord alerts switch stays locked until a webhook is saved, because reminders with nowhere to go would simply pile up unsent. Once the webhook is in place:

  1. Turn on Discord alerts in Settings → Notifications.
  2. On any session, open the Remind me bell and select Discord under Where.

Existing reminders are not switched over automatically — pick Discord on the ones you want in Discord.

What a reminder looks like

Each reminder posts an embed with the series name, track, car classes, duration, Safety Rating requirement, and setup type. The start time is posted as a Discord timestamp, so everyone reading the channel sees it in their own local time and gets a live countdown.

The embed colour matches the session category on the Schedule page, so beginner, intermediate, and advanced races are easy to tell apart at a glance.

Limits

Free accounts get 3 Discord reminders per day, counted separately from the 3 email reminders, resetting at 00:00 UTC. Pro is unlimited. Current usage is shown under Daily alert limit in Settings.

In-app reminders keep arriving after the Discord allowance is spent.

When Discord alerts pause themselves

If the webhook stops working permanently — the channel was deleted, the webhook was removed, or its permissions changed — MyLMU stops trying and shows a banner in Settings: "Discord alerts are paused: the webhook was deleted or its permissions changed. Paste a new one to resume." You also get an in-app notice so you are not left wondering where the reminders went.

Create a new webhook, paste it in, and send a test message to resume.

Short-lived problems, like Discord rate limiting a busy channel, are retried automatically and do not pause anything.

Replacing or removing the webhook

  • Replace webhook — paste a new URL and save. The old one is dropped, and the paused state (if any) clears.
  • Remove — deletes the webhook from MyLMU and turns Discord alerts off. Your reminders stay, they just stop using Discord until you add a webhook again.

Removing the webhook in Discord itself has the same effect, but MyLMU only finds out when the next reminder fails.

Troubleshooting

ProblemThings to check
Discord alerts switch is greyed outSave a webhook first
Test message failedURL copied in full? Webhook still exists in Discord? Channel not deleted?
Test worked, reminders do not arriveIs Discord selected under Where on the reminder itself? Daily limit used up? Quiet hours?
Reminders stopped suddenlyLook for the paused banner in Settings — paste a new webhook
Wrong channelWebhooks are per channel. Create one in the right channel and use Replace webhook
Times look wrong to othersExpected — Discord renders the timestamp in each reader's local time
