Talk is your team's race-ops inbox: announcements for the whole team, plus live chat channels next to the setups, sessions, and telemetry you already share.
Announcements
Owners and admins can publish announcements with optional in-app, email, and Discord delivery (email and Discord need a Pro team owner).
- Pin up to three important announcements so they stay at the top
- Opening the Talk tab marks all announcements as seen in a batch (so “seen by” counts update for the whole team). Opening a deep-linked announcement still highlights that card and marks it seen as well.
- Owners and admins can see how many members have viewed each announcement
- Notifications are sent only when an announcement is created. Editing title or body later does not re-send in-app, email, or Discord alerts (to avoid spam). Pin/unpin also does not notify.
Channel settings
Owners and admins can manage each channel (including General) from the pencil icon:
- Description — short topic line under the channel tabs
- Members can post — turn off for announcements-only rooms (owners/admins can still post)
- Private channel — hide the room from the team and invite specific members (General cannot be private)
Private channels show a lock icon; read-only channels show a muted-post icon.
Channels and unread
Chat is organized into channels (including a default General channel). Unread badges appear on channels and on the Talk tab when someone else posts while you are away. Opening a channel marks it read.
You can load earlier history, edit your own messages within fifteen minutes, and pin up to three messages per channel (owners/admins).
Mentions
Type @ plus a teammate's driver name to notify them in the dashboard bell (multi-word names work, e.g. @Alice Speed). Owners and admins can use @channel or @everyone to notify everyone who can see that channel. Mention notifications are in-app only — turn them on or off under Dashboard → Settings → Notifications.
Event channels
From an event's detail panel, choose Talk about this event to open (or create) a dedicated channel for that race weekend.
Sharing into Talk
Attach or share:
- Setups (from Talk's attach menu, or Discuss in Talk on a setup)
- Sessions and telemetry (Share to Talk from those tabs, or attach from Talk)
- Events, lap records, and setup versions where available
Setup cards in chat can show the latest Garage comments so discussion and setup history stay connected.
Quick responses under a message depend on what you shared (one reaction per person per message — picking another switches yours):
- Text — 👍, 😂, 🔥
- Setup — Tested, Dialed in, Copy that
- Session — Driven, Strong, Noted
- Telemetry — Reviewed, Useful, Flag
